Thomas C. Ours, CPA

Thomas Ours has been working in public accounting since 1990, when he graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He has worked in public accounting for both regional and large-tier firms and as a corporate accountant and plant controller for a mining company. Since opening his own practice in 2002, Thomas has focused on preparation of tax returns and bookkeeping services for individual and small business clients. He has served as a Treasurer of Shepherdstown Day Care, Inc. and on the board of the United Way of Jefferson County. Thomas lives in Shepherdstown with his wife and daughter.

 

Chad R. Lawyer, CPA

Martinsburg

Chad Lawyer graduated cum laude from Salisbury University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. His experience includes working at a large public accounting firm in Baltimore, Maryland, where he handled audits, reviews, compilations and tax returns for his clients, including businesses in the real estate, construction, retail, transportation and healthcare industries. He has also been employed as Corporate Controller and Director of Accounting for a large national law firm located in Rockville, Maryland. Chad is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, Main Street Martinsburg and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. Chad is also a member of the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce. Chad lives in Frederick, Maryland with his wife.

Eric J. Lewis, CPA

 120 N. Princess Street • Shepherdstown

Eric Lewis has worked in public accounting and hi-tech finance since 1995. Most recently, he was Executive Director of Walker Ventures, a $100 million early stage venture capital fund located near Baltimore, Maryland. Eric has served as Chief Financial Officer at two venture capital-backed high tech companies and has worked with large regional CPA firms in auditing, tax and business consulting.

Eric serves on the Board of Governors of his alma mater, Shepherd University, having been appointed by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin in February 2016. Eric also serves on the Board of Directors of Jefferson Security Bank, the Shepherd Entrepreneurship and Research Corporation, the Shepherd University Foundation, Shepherd University Athletic Club, and West Virginia Vision Shared. Eric also previously served on the West Virginia School Building Authority, as he was appointed by Governor Joe Manchin and reappointed by Governor Tomblin. He has previously served as Chairman of the West Virginia Venture Connection, a nonprofit created by Senator John D. Rockefeller IV and on the Boards of the Jefferson County Development Authority, Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, Jefferson County Farm Bureau, Shepherd University Alumni Association and the Jefferson County Schools Education Foundation. Eric graduated cum laude from Shepherd College with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and lives in Shepherdstown with his wife and two children.
